THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I LEARNED FROM THE DALAI LAMA
Last weekend I was honored to celebrate the Dalai Lama's 80th birthday. I can't put into words what it felt like to be in his presence. All I can say is that it was beautiful and so incredibly peaceful. I cried like a baby when I saw him.
The ceremony was over four hours long. There were people from all over the world expressing their gratitude for his compassionate work across the globe. The Dalai Lama spoke as well. Everything he said awakened something inside of me, but one statement in particular really struck a cord.
"Everyday is your birthday."
Everyday truly is your birthday. Tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of us. Cherish each day as if it were your first and your last. Live in the here, now. Live in the now and soak in all the wonders of the world. Yes, there are hard times. (Believe me, I know.) But your very essence here now is a wonder. Appreciate that.
